This one day, 6 hour Emergency Paediatric First Aid course enables you to provide first aid cover for children and infants who are ill or injured. The course is designed to provide essential paediatric life saving skills and paediatric incident management. Typical delivery methods are predominantly practical and the course is assessed by continual observation of candidate performance.
Who should attend?
The qualification will benefit all who work in the early years environment and with pre-puberty children. It is ideal for new mothers, baby sitters, grandparents, dance and exercise teachers, etc. It covers first aid principles, basic life support including infant and child CPR, action for choking, bleeding, shock and dealing with childhood injuries and illness.
- Understanding the role and responsibility of the paediatric First Aider
- Planning for and dealing with first aid emergencies involving babies and children.
- The unresponsive infant or child.
- Basic Life Support.
- Minor injuries including bites and stings.
This course is regulated by Ofqual. Successful candidates will be awarded the ITC First certificate in Emergency Paediatric First Aid, valid for 3 years.
Decisive First Aid is an approved training centre with ITC First.
